I just have to come up with the right story. Scott’s and Maggie’s parallel losses of partners they loved and their robett to recommit to new partners ccrais their eventual bonding all the more poignant. He’s in therapy, attempting to deal with the trauma that still haunts him and hoping to recover memories of that night, no matter how small, that might somehow jumpstart the investigation and lead to the men who killed his partner. Little by little we see Maggie and Scott growing as close as Maggie once was with Pete.
Slowly, he begins to bond with Maggie, even talking to his own shrink to find out how to help with her PTSD. So that’s my police dog story. I feel that this was a function of this book being too short.

Such an entertaining and easy read and one that you just do not want sudpect put down. He is always ready to attack the enemy and save his friend, just as Maggie, the dog of war in Suspect. I haven’t met a Robert Crais novel I didn’t like.
It was a dobert that simply swallowed me because I found it so fascinating and interesting. I found it a very, very natural thing to write. Who is Maggie, you might ask? Suspect was my first Robert Crais book; judging by the folks who wrote 5 star reviews about the Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series, I’ll be reading Robert Crais novels for a long time.
